Yum Tree Kitchen is owned and operated by Mark and Kerry Legh since 2013.
We've worked in hospitality for over thirty years in total. We've worked in some amazing establishments, The Zetland Country House Hotel in Connemara, Le Metropolitain in Wellington, NZ. Kerry managed Bar No. 8 and Mark was head chef in Ard Bia at Nimmos and we've gained some invaluable experience.
In 2011 we had our daughter Elsie;
"Mark took 6 weeks off from being the chef in Ard Bia and cooked and froze meals for me. Great if you have a chef on hand to cook for you...
...but what happens if you don't or if your husband doesn't have any paternity leave. We had no family here at the time so we got to thinking on this idea."
There must be so many people who are getting next to no sleep, breastfeeding, needing the most nutritious food for them and their babies and having to make do with chinese take away or supernoodles.
So, once we recovered from Elsie and trying to work in restaurants with small child we started a business. We called it Yum Tree because we like the tree as a symbol of family and yum, well, you'll have to order to test that out.
We started solely as a food delivery company but have been catering for the last two years. We have catered some beautiful weddings, from Cnoc Suain to Trudder House in Wicklow. We've served bespoke 'family style' wedding dinners at Oranmore Castle and interval meals for the Shakespeare marathon at the Druid Theatre.
